A NOTE FROM DANIEL
Dear court and track builders,
Let me guess how your marketing works right now.
There’s a website guy you used a few years back. Someone’s nephew posts on Facebook when he remembers. There might be an agency sending you a monthly report with the word “impressions” in it. And then there’s you, on a Sunday night, writing something for LinkedIn between quotes.
Each piece looks fine on its own. That’s what makes it so hard to spot. Nobody is doing anything obviously wrong.
But nobody owns the number. And when nobody owns the number, the number is nobody’s fault.
I’m Daniel. I already run the marketing for a tennis and running-track resurfacing company, and we grew their leads by 300%. So I’m not learning your trade on your money. I know who awards this work: athletic directors, parks departments, HOAs, facility managers. I also know most of them have never heard of you, and that is the whole problem.
Here’s the bind you’re in. A real marketing director costs about $200,000 a year, and at your size that isn’t a decision, it’s a fantasy. So you do what every owner in this trade does. You buy pieces. A vendor here, a freelancer there. And each one has to learn your trade on your dime, and most of them never really do. They don’t know a birdbath from a control joint, so you get copy that could be about anything.
Meanwhile the referrals keep coming, so the whole thing feels fine.
I’d push back on that. The referrals are real and you earned them. They’re also the reason this stays hidden. The school board still gets your name from a friend. Then they look you up, find a website you’ve been meaning to sort out, and quietly award it somewhere else. You never hear about that one. You only ever hear about the wins.
And referrals retire when you do. If you ever want to sell this business, a buyer is going to look at how much of the pipeline runs through your personal phone, and price it accordingly.
What I do is easy to describe and hard to assemble. I become your marketing department. One person owning the number, running the strategy, the campaigns, the follow-up system and the reporting, already fluent in your trade on day one.
No long contract. If it isn’t working, you’ll see it in the reporting before I do, and you can leave at the end of any month.
If that’s the thing that’s been missing, book a game plan for your area. It’s free, it takes 30 minutes, and there’s no pitch at the end of it. I’ll just tell you what I’d do.
Here’s to somebody owning the number,
Daniel Page
Pager Digital
One person owns the whole marketing function for your firm. Here’s what sits inside it.
The strategy
Which projects you actually want, which areas, which buyers. Written down, so everyone including you can see what we’re aiming at.
The campaigns
Cold email, Google, Meta, Microsoft. Whichever ones your buyers are actually on. I don’t prescribe a channel because it’s the one I happen to know.
The system behind it
A CRM and a lead pipeline built inside your business, so every enquiry gets captured, qualified and followed up instead of sitting in an inbox somebody checks on Thursdays.
The reporting
What it cost, what came in, what turned into a quote. Numbers you can argue with.
The person
Me. One head accountable for the number, instead of four vendors pointing at each other.

This is for you if you run two or more crews, you want a marketing function rather than another vendor, and you’d rather invest against a plan than a hunch.
It isn’t for you if what you want is a batch of leads this month, or somebody to run ads and leave the rest alone. Both are reasonable things to want. Neither one is this.
I take on 3 to 4 new clients a month. That number is low on purpose, because the whole promise here is that one person actually owns your number.
